ANTI-ZIONIST JEWS DISRUPT NY FUNDRAISER FOR IDF
December 1, 2023Tonight 3 Israelis with our group @shoresh_us, a new movement of anti-Zionist Israelis in the U.S., disrupted the @friends_of_the_idf Young Leadership Gala to demand true safety for all Israelis & Palestinians through political solutions, not military ones.
The Friends of the IDF, and the Israeli Defense Forces themselves, are not friends to Israelis — they are friends to politicians and to the defense industry, who are the only ones who actually benefit from the endless murder of Palestinians.
If FIDF were true friends, they would work for a permanent #ceasefire and political solution that would end cycles of violence.
They would work for a reality in which the state of Israel doesn’t turn all of its 18 year olds into soldiers.
They would work for full democracy and equality for all people between the river and the sea, and they would call for a right of return for all Palestinians.”
This is what Shoresh demands.
For too long, Israelis in the U.S. let the military and the apartheid regime claim to speak for us and our interests, but now, in the face of the ongoing #genocide in #Gaza & dehumanization of Palestinians by American & Israeli politicians, we are speaking out collectively and publicly to reveal their lies and shout the truth-that Israeli safety can only be realized with Palestinian freedom.
The Israeli state silences Jews & Palestinians who imagine and build a different political future. Dozens have been arrested since October 7th for voicing their opposition to the war. In tonight’s disruption, we took a risk that leftists in #Israel can’t due to political repression, and called for a permanent #ceasefire, hostage exchange, and an end to the occupation.
We disrupted the Friends of the IDF Gala to express our horror at the mass killing and dehumanization of Palestinians, and we want our friends, Israeli anti-apartheid activists, to know that they are not alone.
Their resistance to #apartheid is powerful, their continued activism as we are all still mourning inspires and energizes us, and together we are part of something bigger— a leftist international movement for true freedom & democracy for all who live between the river and the sea.”
