TRIBUTE TO FALLEN JOURNALISTS

@Yara Elmjouie won the Daytime Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Lifestyle Program for his show Eat This with Yara and paid tribute to his fallen cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa who was killed last week by Israeli forces in south Gaza.
The death toll of Palestinian journalists killed by the Israeli army since Oct. 7 in Gaza has risen to 97, according to the latest count by by the Gaza-based government media office,

It is considered the highest rate of death of journalists in the same period of any war.

Israel has no mercy and especially for journalists as it is trying to SHUTDOWN the TRUTH from reaching the world to counteract the immense negativity towards the apartheid, zionist state as a result of its savage brutality towards the Palestinians since it launched its retaliatory attack on Oct 8.

Some of those killed this week include Assem Kamal Moussa, Haneen Kashtan, Samer Abu Daqqa, Duaa Jabbour, Ola Atallah, Hassan Farajallah, Shaima El-Gazzar, Abdullah Darwish, Montaser Al-Sawa, Adham Hassouna, Mostafa Bakeer, Mohamed Mouin Ayyash, Mohamed Nabil Al-Zaq, Farah Omar, Rabih Al Maamari, Issam Abdallah and many, many, many more.

Yara Elmjouie: I cannot in good conscience stand here before you today and not talk about the tragedy unfolding in Gaza and my Al Jazeera colleagues who are covering it. Yesterday, our cameraman, Samer, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Another colleague, Wael, was wounded after losing his wife and children in another Israeli airstrike earlier. And last year, our colleague Shireen was shot and killed by Israeli snipers.

Israel’s assault on Gaza has killed over 18,600 Palestinians, most of them civilians and over 7500 of them children. 90% of Gaza is now homeless. Some of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations recently wrote that they have seen, and I quote, nothing like the siege of Gaza before. So, if I can leave you all with something, it’s this. Please don’t stop reading.

Don’t stop informing your friends. Don’t stop standing on the side of humanity and don’t stop sharing the stories of those who do not have access to the corridors of power. Thank you.
