ISRAEL DELIVERS DEFENCE WHAT ICJ JUDGES MUST DO NOW!
January 12, 2024I had the great privilege to be one of only 14 people that gained access to the final day of the hearing at the International Court of Justice and bear witness as the Israeli legal team delivered their defence to the 17 judges of the ICJ in The Hague today.
To provide a brief summary, basically the first three advocates Tal Becker, Malcolm Shaw and Galit Raguan provided a predictable outline for their case presenting, or rather “”spinning””, all the same narrative and stories that Israel has been using to to defend its actions.
It was actually so disappointing to listen to these lawyers present “”NOTHING NEW”” as evidence but rather use the “”babies being burned””, “”mass rapes and sexual violence””, “”tunnels under hospitals””, “”human shields”” and of course it was all “”Hamas’s”” fault, “”Israel is doing everything it can to limit civilian deaths and collateral damage”” and wants to live in peace and harmony with the Palestinians!!! All the same stories and lies which have been debunked all over maintream and social media over the past 2-3 months.
Closing Israel’s defence, deputy attorney general Gilad Noam, asked the judges to strike out the case altogether, as you would expect him to do.
Speaking on the court steps after the hearing ended, South Africa’s Justice Minister Ronald Lamola said Israel’s case was not backed by facts on the ground and said lawyers had “”failed to disprove South Africa’s compelling case””. He denied that South Africa had downplayed the events of October 7 but said the nature of Israel’s response was not justified “”no matter how great the threat might be””.
Ammar Hijazi, Palestinian Assistant Foreign Minister, dismissed Israel’s claims as “already-debunked lies” with no solid arguments.
Unless the 17 judges sitting on the bench at the ICJ are living on a deserted island with no communication and access to information, they would have to be fools, or have been “”BOUGHT”” to believe the line of defence presented by Israel.
It is now up to these distinguished judges to DO THEIR JOB and deliberate, interrogate the information presented to them by both sides, and deliver a JUST DECISION!

Daizy: The Israeli deliberations have just completed. I’ve just come outside. I had the great honor to be inside the International Court of Justice to witness Israel’s defense. And what I witnessed today was a disappointing deliberation. What they did was repeat the same vernacular, the same verbatim argument that has been put out by the state of Israel since October seven. They repeated the same lies on why they have the right to continue their aggression against the people of Gaza. They repeat the babies’ story, the rape allegations, the tunnels, and so many more falsehoods that had been debunked over the last three months and use that as the premise of the evidence for why Israel had the right to continue its barrage of Gaza. I’m not saying that the judges are going to take that all on board. What’s come out for me after witnessing this is that it is all up to the 17 judges that were on the panel today to review the evidence completely, thoroughly and not just believe the words spoken by each of the members of delegations, both South Africa and Israel. It is up to them, and we call on them to assess the evidence clearly and fairly and not accept the words of the advocates. I’m not going to go through all of it. You’ll see it all. But I’m very proud to have been able to get in there today. The protests continue behind me and tomorrow there will be a huge march in museum claims. And I call on people across Amsterdam and this country to attend the march and demand a ceasefire and free, free Palestine. Thanks.
