LEBANESE MUST HELP PALESTINIANS FREE THEIR LAND SO THEY CAN RETUEN
January 17, 2024Tensions are mounting within Lebanon with the debate over the presence of some half a million Palestinian refugees who are the descendants of Palestinians expelled from Palestine in 1948 and the decades following.
Lebanon has never granted them citizenship because of their wish to RETURN to THEIR HOMELAND. If granted citizenship, they would lose that right of return and Israel would have succeeded in permanently removing them and destroying any hope of return.
Lebanese actor, @Rodney.AlHaddad, in this interview on the Al Majhoul show on @lbcilebanon , challenges the host, @rodolphhilal , who questions why Lebanon and the Lebanese should be at risk of war because of the presence of Palestinians and Hamas leaders in Lebanon.
This is a very important debate that all Lebanese must confront and decide what side of history we are going to be on.
Do we defend the Palestinian cause and right of return? Or do we villify the victims and by doing so strengthen the enemy, Israel?
Yes, there is a bad history between Lebanon and the Palestinian fighters that came into Lebanon in the early 1970s and tried to take over our country and use it as a frontline in their war with Israel. But Lebanese can’t only blame the Palestinian Liberation Organisation for this conflict led to the Lebanese Civil War, which lasted from 1975-1990. Lebanese political parties and leaders were equally responsible for dividing our people and our nation and enabling such a tragedy to befall Lebanon. They divided us along religious lines instead of uniting us as one Lebanese nation standing on principles and for patriotism.
We need to own our part in our history and never repeat the mistakes of the past.
I stand with Rodney Al Haddad on this. We must present a united front and stand with Palestine and the rights of the Palestinians to their homeland. If we do not defend their rights, we are cursing our own!

Rodolph Hilal: Answer now the people who are asking why Hamas leaders are in Lebanon, doing meetings in Lebanon in residential buildings and putting people’s lives in danger.
Rodney El Haddad: Read his biography. You didn’t read his biography? He was first kicked out of Palestine, he was imprisoned.
Rodolph Hilal: Okay.
Rodney Haddad: He was kicked out of Palestine, so he went to Jordan then he was kicked out of Jordan.
Rodolph Hilal: So, we welcome him here?
Rodney El Haddad: Calm down a little.
Rodolph Hilal: So, we welcome him here?
Rodney El Haddad: Why wouldn’t we?
Rodolph Hilal: Why would I put the lives of the Lebanese people in danger? Yesterday when they bombed the suburb…
Rodney El Haddad: Look at this logic they are putting in your mind or the minds of the citizens. “Because he’s here, Israel has the right to bomb”.
Rodolph Hilal: No, of course it has no right.
Rodney El Haddad: It’s like we gave them the right to bomb.
Rodolph Hilal: Not at all.
Rodney El Haddad: We’re free to welcome whoever we want in Lebanon.
Rodolph Hilal: Why do they need to meet here to prepare for war?
Rodney El Haddad: Calm down, they’re not preparing for war. Calm down, that’s not what’s happening.
Rodolph Hilal: What’s happening?
Rodney El Haddad: Are you against helping the resistance in Gaza to fight Israel?
Rodolph Hilal: Not at all.
Rodney El Haddad: That’s the logic. Are you with or against Israel?
Rodolph Hilal: I am against Israel just like all Lebanese people. But why would I put the people here in danger?
Rodney El Haddad: Why are there Palestinians in Lebanon? In the past they used to come and go to Lebanon when Palestine existed. Why are there Palestinians in Lebanon? You’re fighting the outcome, and killing the outcome without treating the cause? Meaning you either fight with Palestinians, or you try to help them to free their land so they can go back to it? What kind of logic is this?
Rodolph Hilal: Of course, we help them…
Rodney El Haddad: But that’s what you want Lebanese people to think? That Palestinians are our enemies, and why are they in Lebanon? They’re in Lebanon because Israel displaced them to Lebanon and isn’t allowing them to return.
