DOES ANYONE WITH ISRAEL THAT PALESTINIANS ARE SUB-HUMAN?
January 29, 2024In a powerful address to the United Nations Security Council on Saturday, Ambassador Majed Bamya, the Palestinian Representative to the UN, condemned Israel’s actions against the Palestinians, and questioned the morality of the Israel’s Representative, Gilad Erdan, who had addressed the UNSC earlier.
During the session, Erdan placed a yellow star on his jacket, on the 79th anniversary of the Holocaust, while simultaneously justifying the ongoing genocide Israel was committing against Palestinian civilians that have claimed more than 26,000 lives in less than four months.
Ambassador Bamya, strongly emphasized that the Holocaust should never be instrumentalized to justify atrocities, asserting that no one has the right to use such a historical tragedy to rationalize the killing of innocent civilians. He underscored the importance of honoring all victims by upholding international law, including the UN Charter, the Geneva Convention, and the Universal Declaration for Human Rights.
These events led to the formulation of rules that are being blatantly violated today.

Majed Bamya: The Israeli permanent representative stood in the Security Council and placed a yellow star on his jacket, evoking the Holocaust, while at the same time justifying the bombings that are killing Palestinian civilians by the thousands, children by the thousands. No one can instrumentalize the Holocaust to justify atrocities. No one. We honor the victims of the Holocaust and all victims by never justifying the killing of innocent civilians, by upholding international law, for all. The Holocaust was one of the worst horrors humanity ever witnessed. And with other horrors led us to elaborate the very rules that are being breached today. The Charter, the Geneva Convention, the Universal Declaration for Human Rights. It led us to adopt the Rome statute, 50 years too late, and build a court with a universal calling, not for one group against another, but for all humanity. Are we not part of that human family? Are Palestinian civilian lives less sacred? Does anyone here agree with Israel that we are subhumans?
