SNP TO CALL FOR IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE VOTE IN HOUSE OF COMMONS
February 18, 2024Drew Hendry, Member of Parliament for the Scottish National Party (SNP), emphasised the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza during a discussion on BBC Question Time late last week.
Hendry announced that the SNP will initiate a vote at the House of Commons advocating for an ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Gaza to which the audience responded with loud applause.
He added that he hopes for support from both the Labour Party and the Tory Party for the proposal.
Goodluck Mr Hendry, I don’t think they will step up to the plate but we commend the SNP and encourage you to continue to expose the Tories & Labour for their hypocrisy and immorality and maybe one day (hopefully soon) they will give in because WE WON’T STOP!

English Script:
Drew Hendry: People are suffering. They’re not only suffering death and privation, but they’re suffering from the absolute terror that this is imposing on them at the moment. The only way to get it and to get things sorted out is to have an immediate ceasefire, Not a pause, what does a pause mean? Not a pause, a ceasefire. No, let me finish.
Fiona Bruce: The hospitals are being attacked because Hamas are using the hospitals.
Drew Hendry: What we need is an immediate cease fire. People have a right to be treated in hospital. They have a right to be able to live. They have a right to get food and water. And those things are being ignored at the moment. We need a ceasefire and the SNP will be bringing forward a vote on Wednesday in the House of Commons calling for an immediate ceasefire.
And I want to see the Labor Party support that. I want to see the Tory Party support that. I think everybody should be supporting that.
Jill Kirby: Do you think Hamas are concerned about that… Do you think Hamas should be in hospitals, leading a terror network under hospitals?
Drew Hendry: Hamas are not the ones who are dying in the droves at the moment. It’s innocent children
Jill Kirby: Hamas are enabling their citizens…
Drew Hendry: Innocent children, women and men are dying just now. They’re getting injured.
Fiona Bruce: So, what do you do about that?
Drew Hendry: Well, you have a ceasefire. You allow proper aid to get in.
Jill Kirby: Hamas are using the aid.
Drew Hendry: You can’t punish, you can’t collectively punish nearly 30,000 people and more. We’re talking about millions of people here that are under pressure.
You can’t collectively punish the people of Gaza for the actions of a group. That doesn’t make sense and it’s not international law. This is a massive breach of international law. This should not be happening. It is a ceasefire that’s needed so that people can get some normality back. But they won’t get normality back into their life so they can get some…
Fiona Bruce: What’s your response to Sophie’s question there? Is it there should be…
Girl from the audience: Your heart is breaking so much for the Israeli children that were killed on October 7th. Why isn’t your heart breaking for the Palestinian children that are dying? Why? Why is an Israeli life more valuable than a Palestinian life? Why?
Jill Kirby: I don’t…
Girl from the audience: Have you seen the videos of the babies?
