Emmanuel Macron: This finally requires a decisive and irreversible drive to implement the two-state solution. Our partners in the region, particularly Jordan, are working on this, and we are working with them. We are ready to contribute to this in Europe and in the Security Council. Recognition of a Palestinian State is not a Taboo for France. we owe it to the Palestinians, whose aspirations have been trampled on for too long, we owe it to the Israelis, who have experienced the Greatest anti-Semitic massacre of our century, we owe it to a region that aspires to escape the promoters of chaos and the sowers of revenge.Humanitarian access today is very inadequate given the needs Civilians in Gaza are dying of Hunger and Disease. Here again, I told the Israeli Prime Minister ‘the Port of Ashdod must be opened and we must also open a direct land route from Jordan that can become an additional humanitarian hub for Gaza, to which France is ready to contribute. Finally, we need to open all the crossing points, including in the north of the Gaza Strip where the situation is Dramatic’
King Abdullah 2: we need to work very closely to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. An Israeli attack on Raffah, where nearly 1.4 or 1.5 million people have been pushed into a small area to take shelter from the ongoing devastation will have catastrophic humanitarian consequences that cannot be accepted. The destructive war on Gaza and the escalation in the West Bank and in Jerusalem continue, their effect will extend far into the region. A political solution that leads to peace, as you said Mr President, on the basis of a two-state solution is the only way to guarantee security for the Palestinians, the Israelis and the entire region.
