NOT WAR. THIS IS GENOCIDE! WORLD LEADERS SPEAK OUT
February 20, 2024Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has condemned the ongoing events in Gaza as genocide, drawing attention to the plight of Palestinians and urging global support for their right to statehood.
In her statement, Prime Minister Hasina emphasized that what is unfolding in Gaza cannot be classified as a conventional war but rather as a systematic campaign of violence targeting innocent civilians, including women and children. She drew parallels to historical atrocities, likening the situation to past genocides, such as the Holocaust perpetrated by Hitler against the Jews.
Echoing Hasina’s sentiments, leaders from around the world, including Brazilian President Lula, have spoken out against the atrocities being committed in Gaza. Lula, like many others, has not hesitated to denounce the Israeli government’s actions as genocidal and tantamount to ethnic cleansing.
“It’s not a war of soldiers against soldiers. It’s a war between a highly trained army and women and children.” Lula said.
At the ‘Global Day of Action’ protest in London on the weekend, Labour MP John McDonnell voiced his support for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza ahead of a parliamentary vote on the matter on Wednesday. McDonnell’s decision was driven by his conscience and the distressing images emerging from Gaza, including those of innocent children killed in the conflict.
McDonnell declared his stance stating: “I will be voting for an immediate ceasefire now.”
McDonnell’s appeal to fellow Parliament members was clear: “Vote with your conscience; vote for peace; vote for a ceasefire. This is the only way to secure the release of the hostages, end the killings, and then justice for Palestinians.”
CEASEFIRE NOW!

English Script:
Sheikh Hasina: What is happening in Gaza, I feel it is a genocide. So we never support it. The Gaza people, the Palestinian people, they have the right to live. Already Bangladesh, we send some assistance to them and I call upon people in the world to support and help the children suffering children, women and the people of Palestinian. There was a two-state solution theory in 1967, U.N. resolution, it should be implemented.
Lula: What is happening in the Gaza strip to the Palestinian people, does not exist in any other historical period. In fact, it happened when Hitler decided to kill the Jews. What is the size of these people’s hearts who are not seeing that what is happening in the Gaza Strip is not a war, it’s a genocide. It’s not a war between soldiers. It’s a war between a highly prepared army against women and children.
John McDonnell: On Wednesday, as has been said, it’s almost certain now there will be a vote on Gaza in parliament. I want to make this absolutely clear. I will be voting for a ceasefire, an immediate ceasefire now. And I will do so because I want to vote with my conscience. And in my mind, I will have the images that we’ve all seen pouring out of Gaza. All of that militates towards me voting for an immediate cease fire. But I say this to my colleagues in parliament: Vote with your conscience, vote for peace, vote for a cease fire. In our thousands, in our millions, we are all Palestinians. Solidarity.
