USAID HEAD GRILLED ON HYPOCRISY OF US FOREIGN POLICY
February 26, 2024Samantha Power, current head of USAID, was asked how the US contends with its hypocritical stance on issues such as climate change vs the war in Gaza.
“”How are you leading us to reckon with and overcome this hypocrisy in US foreign policy?”” a Hannah a USAid Contract Specialist asked Power at a recent discussion that took place at Johns Hopkins University.
Power’s response was ineffective and inconclusive providing more the rhetoric that is allowing the genocide to perpetuate.
How ironic is it that on the one hand, the US proclaims to provide humanitarian aid through USAID whilst, on the other, it funds a genocide that leads to those same people needing more aid?!
Bravo to the young brave Hanna for calling them out!

USAID worker: My question is that the U.S. funded genocide in Gaza has really left us unable to be moral leaders on climate change and all the other pressing development and humanitarian issues. Those of us who work at USAID care so much about how are you leading us to reckon with and overcome this hypocrisy in U.S. foreign policy? Thank you.
Samantha Power: Thank you. Well, I think we have to go back to the core challenge in what is happening in Gaza, which is I have already spoken again to the humanitarian consequences and our mobilization to try to reduce those consequences we need to get a humanitarian pause where people will not be at risk of getting killed from bombing will be able to access basic resources and dignity. That’s incredibly important.
