These protesters behind me have shut down the entire international terminal at San Francisco International Airport demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. People have actually chained themselves together, blocking the security checkpoints, meaning no one can catch their flights from this terminal right now.
Joe Biden needs stop funding this genocide stop funding and arming Israel immediately. People here are consciously objecting to this. 158 days of genocide!
Travelers were redirected to other terminals. One traveler was so moved that she got on the microphone. And I don’t mind at all that I am slightly inconvenienced.
So my trip doesn’t go exactly as planned, but I still have a life. I can still live. I’m not dying. I’m not starving.
We don’t want to be here. But we have to be. Our government has refused to call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire, and continues to actively fund and supply weapons to the genocidal apartheid settler colony of Israel.
The protesters have also shut down the streets, leading to the international terminal, which means no cars are getting through right now. I say that this is a minor inconvenience to think about all the children and all the parents who are literally being killed as we speak. This is a small sacrifice we have to make.
More than 31,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7th. That includes at least 13,000 children. 27 people have died of starvation and dehydration, most of them children.
The protesters shut down the international terminal for 158 minutes to mark 158 days of Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza. And they say so long as it continues, there can be no business as usual.
