MOTHER PLEAS TO SAVE CHILDREN TRAPPED UNDER THE RUBBLE
March 17, 2024Wafaa Al Biss, a mother standing amidst the ruins of Al Masa, a 7-storey residential building in Gaza City that was destroyed on March 15th, pleads with rescuers to come and help retrieve the bodies, dead or alive of her two children.
Wafaa, once a freed prisoner, recounts the life she built post-release, marrying and bringing into the world her sons, Baraa and Hasan. With profound grief, she reveals that her children are now trapped under the rubble of their home.
Holding Baraa’s shoe and toys, she pleads desperately with the president, civil defense, and the world to rescue her sons, whether they are alive or not, to quench her unbearable anguish.
She shares personal details about her sons, Baraa’s passion for football and Hasan’s kindness, painting a picture of the life and dreams buried beneath the debris of what was once their life.
