ISRAEL SETS FIRE TO LIFESAVING MEDICAL UN SUPPLIES
April 17, 2024United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative, Dominic Allen, returns to Gaza after three months to check-in on the people and ensure humanitarian aid is no reaching them after Israel was given an ultimatum to let the aid in by the U.S.A.
What he found was a horror story the likes of which he will find hard to forget.
“It’s full of the smell of death.”
“Until recently, pregnant women received life-saving care at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, #Gaza. Now it sits empty and burning.”

Dominic Allen: I’m here on an inter-agency mission with the World Health Organization and UNFPA at the Nasser Medical Complex. I visited here in January, where we delivered life saving maternal health supplies. And today the warehouse of the hospital is literally burning behind me. Our supplies and those supplies of W.H.O. and partners for the life-saving measures that are needed for the people of Khan Younis are burning. Behind me is the maternity and neonatal clinic. Last time I was here, it was full of pregnant women, the midwives, the doctors, but also full of internally displaced people, frightened for their lives. Today, it is empty. It’s full of destruction. It’s full of the smell of death. We are deeply concerned about the safety of the pregnant women and the women who need to come and find health services. And right now, in Khan Younis and in the Nasser medical complex, there is none. We want to be able to start up these services as soon as possible. But first of all, they need a ceasefire above everything else.
