STUDENTS, ACADEMICS & MPS FROM SORBONNE TO ATHENS NEW YORK TO INDIANA DEMAND JUSTICE FOR GAZA
May 2, 2024The student uprising that started two weeks ago at Columbia University in New York has ignited similar student emcampents around the United States but also the world. The voice of the youth of this generation is standing up to government and authority and saying STOP FUNDING THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA. WE DEMAND A CEASEFIRE.
Students at Sorbonne University in Paris this week set up encampments to denounce what they say is their school’s complicity in Israel’s war on Gaza while French deputies from the biggest left-wing parliamentary group in the French parliament, France Unbowed (La France Insoumise/LFI) came and protected the mobilised students during at The Paris Institute of Political Studies in Paris similarly demanding the university stop funnelling endowment money to Israeli companies and other businesses, like weapons manufacturers, that profit from the war on Gaza.
In Athens, thousands of Greek students demonstrated in front of the US embassy in solidarity with Gaza and the student uprising in the US.
And at Indiana University, Vice Dean Elizabeth Dunn, joined the protesting students in tears following the arrests and spoke out in support of the students’ right to protest saying: « I might lose my job because I’m here. But I couldn’t sit and watch.
THIS WILL ONLY MAKE THEIR RESOLVE AND THAT OF STUDENTS ALL OVER THE WORLD STRONGER.
These students are not violent, nor abusive, nor anti-semitic – all labels placed upon them to justify the unnecessary miitary action against them. All the protests being staged by students around the world have been peaceful, orderly, and non-threatening. They are embodying the values and behaviour they want our world leaders to uphold. PEACE, EQUALITY, INTEGRITY, JUSTICE.
But they are being suspended, beaten, abused, arrested, their 2nd amendment rights violated all to protect a Zionist entity that wants to destroy our world and install a new world order based on violence, money, oppression, apartheid, destruction, immoratlity and hatred.
WE MUST CONTINUE TO DO ALL IN OUR POWER TO PREVENT THIS!
STAND FOR PEACE. STAND WITH PALESTINE!

English Script:
Student at Sorbonne: There were some altercations, it was quite violent. Some people were dragged on the ground, others were simply forced out by being taken by the arms. The students have gathered to protest Israel’s war on Gaza.
Louis Maziere: So, in solidarity with Gaza, we also demanded an end to (the Sorbonne’s) partnerships with Israeli companies and universities which support colonization.
Protesters: Resistance, Resistance. From the Sorbonne to Gaza, resistance, resistance. Free, free Palestine.
Leonard: I think that today we have the same concern as elsewhere, as at Columbia, as at Sciences Po and how it has been happening for six months. We’re denouncing what we are seeing before our eyes, that is to say the genocide of the Palestinian people, which is being committed by the state of Israel.
Elizabeth Dunn: I am so sad. I am grieving and you should be grieving too, because what we’ve done as a community is to break the fundamental link between us and our students. I would imagine there is a fairly high likelihood I will be fired today.
Students: No no no.
Elizabeth Dunn: I can’t sit here and watch this anymore.
