AUSTRALIAN-ISRAELI FORMER DIPLOMAT CHARGED FOR SUPPORTING GENOCIDE
November 7, 2024An Australian-Israeli former diplomat who worked for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is being charged in a Melbourne court for advocacy for genocide based on comments he made in Australian media which allegedly called for genocide of the Palestinian people, according to PEN Melbourne.
Opening statements got underway last week in the trial of Mark Regev, Netanyahu’s former senior adviser for foreign affairs and communication and one-time Israeli Ambassador to the U.K. He is being charged with advocacy for genocide, section 80.2D of the Australian Criminal Code, according to PEN.
