Colombian President Gustavo Petro: “Freedom or Death” for Gaza — Calls for International Army; US Revokes Visa
September 28, 2025
At the UN, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro said what so many leaders refuse to say.
He spoke of Gaza. Of children bombed. Of families starved. Of a world that dares to look away while genocide unfolds in plain sight.
SHARE HIS WORDS! THANK YOU.

Gustavo Petro Urrego: This is my last speech here as a President, my fourth. Today, the United Nations faces its crisis and the need for transformation. Here gather nation-states that no longer hold power, no matter how they vote, they are ignored. The UN becomes complicit in genocide, this hall is a silent witness and accomplice to genocide in today’s world. Trump does not speak of democracy, he does not speak of the climate crisis, he does not speak of life, he only threatens, kills, and allows tens of thousands to be killed. There is no superior race, gentlemen. There is no chosen people of God, neither the United States nor Israel is that. Ignorant far-right fundamentalists think that way. The chosen people of God is all of humanity. The UN must change now, above all, it must stop the genocide in Gaza. Humanity cannot allow one more day of genocide, nor let the genocidaires of Netanyahu and their allies in the United States and Europe go unpunished. Diplomacy has exhausted its role in the case of Gaza, it could not resolve it. The genocide must be stopped by what comes after diplomacy. It must be through a vote of the United Nations General Assembly, not through a Security Council vote that is vetoed. It is through a United for Peace resolution for Palestine, forming an armed force to defend the life of the Palestinian people. This is why I call on the nations of the world, and above all on their people as part of humanity, to unite armies and weapons. Palestine must be liberated, because it will not only be Gaza that is bombed, not only the Caribbean as is already happening, but humanity itself that cries out for freedom. Because from Washington and Nato they kill democracy and revive tyranny and totalitarianism globally. After saving Gaza, we will move on to the plan to decarbonize the world economy. It is the hour of freedom or death. Death by missiles is real, but so too is freedom in the human heart and its capacity for unity, for rebellion and for existence. Thank you.
