“Iron Coffin” Torture Inside Israel Exposed: Palestinian Prisoners Speak Out
November 22, 2025
Testimonies from Palestinian prisoners reveal a torture system so vile it borders on medieval — the infamous “iron coffin”, a metal cage where detainees are locked for nights on end, fed through a tube, denied movement, speech, or breath. Add to that electric shocks, starvation tactics, blasted music, and psychological warfare — all carried out inside Israeli prisons operating with total impunity. These aren’t “security measures.” This is institutionalized cruelty. And the world has no excuse left to look away.

Israel is torturing Palestinian prisoners using a method called the iron coffin. Prisoners are put in a narrow iron cage, almost like a coffin, where they couldn’t speak or move, and the breathing was monitored. They spent nights in these conditions where they were fed a nutritional liquid through a small tube. This is according to a testimony of Imad Nabhan, a person who was in Israel’s notorious Sde Teiman prison. He was held there for 35 days before being transferred to several other Israeli prisons, until he was released in a recent prisoner swap. He encountered other torture methods, including something called the Disco Room, where he was put in a closed room and extremely loud music was blasted. 10 to 12 days at a time, while during interrogation sessions he was seated in a metal chair connected to electricity, where he was repeatedly electrocuted and asked to collaborate in exchange for freedom and support. Prisoners often lost tens of kilos of weight, as overcrowding and medical negligence led to an outbreak of infections and diseases. Scabies was allowed to spread by the Israeli prison guards, which led to prisoners developing boils and ulcers, causing some prisoners to die and others to suffer nerve damage or an inability to move. During his captivity, he often received news of the death of his family members. Despite this, Imran said he refused to comply, stressing that he preferred death or the martyrdom of his family rather than work with the Israelis.
