Everything Possible’: NSW Premier Chris Minns Defends Police Violence, Claims Protesters Were ‘Kept Safe’
February 11, 2026
That’s how Chris Minns defended violent police actions against protesters in Sydney even after video showed officers clashing with crowds, pepper-spraying people, and confronting those praying during a rally opposing Isaac Herzog’s visit
Hundreds turned out to march, but instead of letting them move peacefully, police boxed them in, arrests were made, and scenes of heavy force circulated online as Minns said officers were put in an “impossible situation” and did “everything possible” to keep people safe.
If “everything possible” looks like this,
then safety sounds like a lie.

English Script:
Chris Minns: The New South Wales Police and the government did everything possible to avoid a confrontation. Everything possible. New South Wales Police would never have intended to cause offense to people who were trying or exercising their religion. I mean, they’ve got decades worth of co-operative relationships. So yes, I support police in a very difficult set of circumstances. Of course, they were trying to keep the public safe. Everything possible. And the record shows that they did everything possible to avoid these confrontations.
