The British Museum is removing all references of Palestine from its displays after receiving a letter from an Israel pressure group. Remember in May last year when the British Museum hosted an Israeli Embassy Nakba party with the likes of Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch? When staff had complained, the museum said that they had no choice but to follow UK government foreign policy. But now they apparently can’t display any agency over their own collections and displays. Evil. Within one week of receiving a letter from an Israel pressure group. The museum buckled. Now all the displays in the Middle East and Egypt exhibitions remove any mention of Palestine. After two years of genocide, where historical sites at least 2000 years old were destroyed by the Zionist army, this is how the museum treats Palestinians. The British Museum defends its rights, looted collections from around the world by positioning itself as the guardian of artefacts as the only institution able to preserve, protect and objectively communicate that history. But looting Palestinian artifacts from the Middle East is not enough for them. The British Museum is intent on erasing Palestine and its millions of people out of the history books. This is an extension of the cultural genocide Israel has carried out since the Nakba, and it is in line with the museum’s partnership with BP, which has been fueling Israel’s genocide.
