Netanyahu went on camera today to brag about how Israel has now acquired TikTok, and calling it one of the greatest weapons in their arsenal. TikTok isn’t just about entertainment anymore, it’s becoming a weapon. And Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says so himself.
Netanyahu: You can’t fight today with swords, we have to fight with the weapons that apply to the battlefields, with which we engage and the most important ones are on social media. Tiktok number one. The U.S. has finally forced TikTok to sell its American operations.
After months of political pressure, ByteDance has agreed to slash its stake and hand control to U.S. dominated board and the new power players Oracle and its allies. Oracle, a company originally built to manage databases for the CIA, will now hold the keys to American users’ TikTok data. At its center is billionaire founder Larry Ellison, not just a tech mogul, but also one of the biggest private donors to Israel.
In 2017, Ellison gave $16.6 million to friends of the Israel Defense Forces, reported as their single largest donation at the time.

Critics say this takeover is not just about national security. It’s about controlling narratives with Oracle. With Oracle, in charge. It’s not only the data they hold, but the algorithm itself, the invisible system that decides what goes viral and what disappears. And even the white House acknowledged it. And the algorithm I know this is a question many of you have had will be secured for trained and retrained and operated in the United States. But instead of calming concerns, that statement only deepens them. Users fear retraining the algorithm could mean reshaping what speech is allowed to surface. They’re going to censor this app. They’re going to censor the shit out of it. All the events leading up to this sale point to this happening, it was lobbied by pro-Israel organizations. The lawmakers admitted that it was because it was hosting anti-Israel content like mine, like many others. With campaigners warning of an “Israelification” of TikTok, where moderation rules and algorithmic tweaks could tilt the platform in Israel’s favor,
muting pro-Palestine voices that since October 2023, have been critical in exposing Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. What started as a fight between Washington and Beijing over data has turned into something much bigger, a battle over narrative censorship. And who controls the global conversation on Palestine?
