UN: Israel Fires on Peacekeepers in South Lebanon — “A Serious Violation of Resolution 1701”

UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon came under intense machine-gun fire from the occupation on November 16, 2025, forcing them to take cover. According to their statement, the rounds landed about five meters from their team. UNIFIL reported that the peacekeepers were able to leave safely after thirty minutes once the tank pulled back into the Israeli position. Israel claimed its soldiers opened fire because of poor weather conditions and mistook the UN patrol for suspects.
