The F-35 multi-role fighter jet is supposed to be the last generation fighter jet that the United States currently has at its disposal. It is the one of the most costly endeavors we have engaged in, totaling more than a trillion fucking dollars if they are capable of being taken out by relative like conventional loitering munitions or surface to air missiles, that directly contradicts the air superiority argument that the American government can utilize. A major blow to the confidence that we could have. This is not like some old tech that we’re working with. It is unbelievably bad if the F-35 is actually taken out by Iranian anti-air missiles. It shows two things. Number one, Iran still has denial capabilities and they’re very successfully utilizing it. Number two, the American air superiority is busted and dusted. Given that the US now is effectively run out of standoff munitions, they finally ordered an F-35 sortie into Iranian space. This stealth aircraft was detected, targeted and struck and was lucky to make it back to base in one piece. Oh my fucking lord. If this is a mass producible repeatable incident, this literally renders the F-35. Like tanks, basically. If Ukraine and Russia showed that tanks were unreliable in drone combat, this is yet another instance where it is done. Dude, dude, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. It’s $1 trillion. $1 trillion.
