Eurovision Crowd Boos Israel as Fans Chant Ceasefire and Countries Walk Out

NO MUSIC FOR APARTHEID.
At the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria, the glitz and glamour were completely swallowed by furious, historic protests. During the live performances and the grand final, the arena erupted into a wall of boos and loud chants of “Stop the genocide!” and “Free Palestine!” while the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) desperately tried to scrub the audio.
Proving that some lines cannot be crossed, a historic coalition of five European nations—Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland—completely boycotted and withdrew from the competition to protest Israel’s inclusion.
hanks to the historic boycott and a massive global viewer strike, the 2026 final was recorded as one of the least attended and least watched in the contest’s entire 70-year history. The EBU dodged total disaster when Bulgaria won the trophy, preventing Israel from hosting next year’s event.
You cannot sing and dance away an active genocide. The empty seats, the historic walkouts, and the roar of the crowd proved that the world refuses to let a music stage be used to white-wash apartheid.
SHAME ON THE EBU!
