UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk Warns Drone Warfare Is Creating a New ‘Circle of Hell’
June 18, 2026
Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, has issued a stark warning about the rapid expansion of drone warfare.
According to Türk, the growing use of drones is creating a new “global circle of hell,” where killing can be carried out remotely, accountability becomes increasingly blurred and civilians are often left paying the highest price.
From Gaza and Lebanon to Ukraine, Sudan and beyond, drones are transforming modern warfare.
What was once presented as “precision technology” is now being linked to mounting civilian casualties, constant surveillance and the normalization of endless conflict from the skies.
For communities living under drones, the fear is relentless.
The buzzing overhead never stops.
The threat never disappears.
Just because war can be waged remotely does not make it less deadly.
And just because technology advances does not mean humanity should abandon its responsibility to protect civilian lives.
Enough is enough. Expose them everyday.
