Greens MP and former journalist Sophie McNeill (@sophie_mcneill1 ) slammed the Western Australia Labor Government for rolling out millions of dollars in security and special police powers to protect global weapons manufacturers while cracking down on peaceful protestors outside the Land Forces defence expo.
As McNeill highlighted, the expo hosts arms companies like Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the manufacturer of Spike guided missiles linked by military experts to the strike that killed Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom in Gaza.
Shielding companies that profit from war while stripping citizens of their right to protest exposes where government priorities truly lie.

The crotch cameras are still installed at every intersection. The increasing Flock camera system and the massive surveillance being rolled out is indicative of a paranoid government. Why is the government paranoid?

The state and federal labor governments are subsidizing land forces, using our money so that a company like Rafael can come here and flog their killing machines. This Israeli drone company manufactures the spike guided missiles. Now, this is the missile that military experts believe killed 43 year old Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom. The Israeli military has decided not to charge the soldiers who hunted down and killed that brave Australian aid worker in Gaza, because that’s what happened. The drone followed her car. They hunted Zomi and her colleagues and they killed her. They’re having the red carpet rolled out to them here in Perth. The killers of Zomi Frankcom. So Rafael Advanced Systems and their employees, they’re welcome in Perth. But if you want to go and stand outside the convention center and peacefully protest and call these murderers out for who they are and what they’re doing, then the government will introduce a bill into Parliament to stop you from doing that. That’s what this labor government is doing.
