Elderly Jewish Voter in Maine Demands Candidates Back Arms Embargo on Israel
October 6, 2026“MY FAMILY WAS GENOCIDED BY THE NAZIS. CALL THIS ONE A GENOCIDE TOO.”
Anti-Zionist Jewish political content creator OrangeFreddyG shares a moment from a Troy Jackson campaign event in Maine, where an elderly Jewish woman stood up and gave the room something no politician on that stage could match: the moral clarity of someone who’s lived through what genocide denial protects.
“I come from a family that’s been genocided in the 1940s by the Nazis. I take that issue very personally.”
Her demand was simple: look her in the eye and call Gaza a genocide. Commit to voting against any aid to Israel. No hedging. No talking points.
This wasn’t a young activist in Brooklyn. This was a room full of elderly Jewish and Christian Mainers — the youngest reportedly in her 60s — standing and cheering her on. People with no personal stake in Gaza, demanding an arms embargo for people they will never meet, in a place they’ve never been.
If this is where older Democratic voters actually stand, the question isn’t whether the party is behind them. It’s how much longer the party thinks it can stay behind them.

The Democrats hate Israel. And I don’t just mean Young Democrats, I mean all Democrats. This woman at a Troy Jackson event in Maine today, something that really inspired me. Check it out and I’ll have more context for you after.
Elderly woman: I really appreciate your position on so many domestic issues. And if I sound a little emotional, it’s because I come from a family that’s been genocided in the 1940s by the Nazis. I take that issue very personally. And I would really like to hear both of you say tonight, because this is my personal red line and who I vote for. Are you both willing to say tonight the genocide that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza? And are you…Thank you everyone. And are you both willing to say tonight to commit to voting against any aid for the state of Israel when you get to Washington? Thank you.
I love my people. And by my people I mean Jews who wear keffiyas. She said, I come from a family that’s been genocided. And that’s why I put on this Keffiyeh and came to this meeting to tell you to call genocide a genocide. I am Freddy G, and I zoom on issues and races that matter to people who care about the Israel lobby. This is an older Jew in Maine not some young polyamorous communist and Bushwick DSA and all these other older Mainers are cheering her on. At this point, everyone in the country is brainwashed by Zionism or working for the military industrial complex. It’s like, why are we still arming Israel? Two politicians on stage aren’t going to speak as clearly as she is, and one of them won’t even call it a genocide, but does say that we should stop arming Israel. And that’s the key. It’s not cutting off military aid, which could be an accounting trick. It’s an arms embargo of Israel, normal weapons until they become a state with equal rights. There’s no way for guys to go back to what it was on October 6th, 2023, after all this carnage. The people in Gaza need a safe place to live where Gaza is rebuilt. And that safe place doesn’t need to be outside of Palestine with no ability to return to their homelands. I’m still floored by that. There’s a 65 year old in there, the youngest one by five years. This is beautiful. These are all Jews and Christians in Maine who care about a predominantly Muslim population in Gaza, a place they’ve never been to. Came out just to stand up for people living thousands of miles away who they will never meet. People who are at minimum 50 years younger than that. This is old men planting seeds for trees they will never sit under. This is the closer we’re getting to the wholesome of a Norman Rockwell painting in 2026. By the way, he was a fellow New Englander. Did a bunch of civil rights paintings in the last decade of his life, so he’d be applauding with them. I hope his energy can propel anti genocide candidates like Troy Jackson to victory, but we’re going to need to keep this up even if we have a blue wave, because people like Schumer and Jeffries, they’re going to do everything they can to keep the will of the Democratic voters from being done by the Democratic Party. So it’s amazing how far we’ve come in changing public opinion, but sadly, we still have so much more work to do.
