THIS TREATMENT IS TANTAMOUNT TO A WAR CRIME

You may have seen photos and/or videos of P@lestinian men stripped to their underwear and blindfolded accompanied on some outlets by headlines claiming this was a mass Hamas surrender. THIS IS UNTRUE!
These men are civilians, some were identified as journalists and doctors. They were rounded up from buildings including UN shelters after being ordered by the IDF that all males needed to surrender. They were unarmed merely trying to protect their families and help recover bodies from under the rubble.
They were taken, stripped, handcuffed and blindfolded. They were corralled into a crater in Northern Gaza and forced to sit for hours and days before some were released. It is not known what has happened to the majority of them.
This is a WAR CRIME!

Arwa Damon: You may have seen these photos and or videos of a large group of men in Gaza, The vast majority of them strip down to their underwear. All are blindfolded. And on some outlets are social media accounts accompanied by the headline of “Mass Surrender by Hamas.” This is untrue. The IDF arrived in some neighborhoods in Beit Lahia, which is north of Gaza, and ordered all males to come out.
Now, in warfare, it is not entirely uncommon for the military to arbitrarily detained all military aged men for questioning. This group, however, does also include, according to relatives, the elderly, as well as at least two boys who are under the age of 16. The rules of war, though, are very specific when it comes to the treatment of individuals.
Under no circumstance is inhumane, cruel, humiliating or degrading treatment permitted. Which this most certainly is.
