A massive political civil war has erupted between London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Scotland Yard over the future of policing, artificial intelligence, and corporate ethics. Khan has officially stepped in to block a staggering \u00a350 million deal that would have handed the UK\u2019s largest police force over to the controversial US data-mining giant Palantir.<\/p>\n

The intervention has triggered furious pushback from the Metropolitan Police, exposing a deep rift between city hall leadership and a police force desperate to automate its intelligence analysis.<\/p>\n

he Mayor\u2019s office pulled no punches, declaring there had been a \u201cclear and serious breach\u201d of public procurement laws. Investigations revealed that the Met Police completely bypassed standard competition, only seriously considering one single supplier: Palantir.<\/p>\n

This contract would have been Palantir\u2019s crown jewel in British policing. Founded by billionaire Peter Thiel, the controversial firm has already secured massive, highly criticized data contracts across the UK, including a \u00a3330m deal with NHS England and a \u00a3240m partnership with the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n
