Metropolitan Police Department Officer Daniel Hodges and former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn\u2014both of whom were injured defending the Capitol\u2014have officially filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration. The suit aims to completely dissolve the administration\u2019s newly unveiled $1.776 billion \u201cAnti-Weaponization Fund,\u201d blasting it as a lawless, taxpayer-funded slush fund designed to reward rioters and paramilitary groups who committed violence in Trump\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

The officers, who continue to face daily harassment and violent threats for their actions during the riot, warned that the mere existence of the fund acts as a green light for future political violence. The lawsuit states: \u201cThose who enact violence in President Trump\u2019s name will not just avoid punishment, they will be rewarded with riches.\u201d<\/p>\n

If allowed to begin making payments, the Fund will directly finance the violent operations of rioters, paramilitaries, and their supporters who threatened our lives that day, and continue to do so. Taxpayer money should never be used as a bounty to reward those who try to tear down a democracy.<\/p>\n
