British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, may not have intended to refer to Israeli Prime Minister as a “”useful idiot”” at a Conservative Friends of Israel event in London, but there is no other way to interpret his speech, especially following Netanyahu’s public use of the phrase in one of his recent speeches.<\/p>\n

We all know the iconic slogan is a call for Palestinian unity and freedom which has united people from Beirut to Las Vegas, Tunis to Rome, pro-Palestinian who have continued to demonstrate across the globe, condemning Israel\u2019s relentless bombing of Gaza.<\/p>\n

As reported in TRT World, one expert on human rights in the Middle East, who insisted on remaining anonymous said: “”It is shorthand for declaring that wherever Palestinians live in historical Palestine, whether citizens of Israel or residents of occupied territories, they suffer from some form of oppression, and this must end.\u201d<\/p>\n

The report explained that the slogan essentially expresses the desire for a unified Palestine state stretching from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n

Experts say the phrase holds profound cultural significance and plays a pivotal role in shaping Palestinian identity and nationhood.<\/p>\n

It underscores the connection to the land, calls for decolonisation, freedom, and the end of Israeli occupation with a single, inclusive state representing Palestinians and ensuring equal rights for all.<\/p>\n

However, pro-Israeli groups often label the phrase as pro-Hamas slogan and interpret it as a \u201ccall to destroy Israel.\u201d The Israeli narrative has been gaining momentum since the outbreak of hostilities October 7, with some countries including the UK, USA and Austria banning its use as anti-semitic.<\/p>\n
