A bureaucratized, routine machine for ending Palestinian lives.<\/p>\n<p>It got a 25-minute standing ovation in Venice. It\u2019s the only documentary competing for the Golden Lion.<\/p>\n<p>When the people who built the system start describing it as a system of killing, there\u2019s no \u201ccontext\u201d left to hide behind. There\u2019s no \u201cself-defense\u201d that explains a bureaucracy built to kill efficiently and call it routine.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t propaganda from the outside. We are trying to look at state crimes committed by Israel which are systemic. And so also in this film. And, you know, we are talking to 24 Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers, and we really are looking at a system, at a system of killing and which is mass killing, which is predicated on it relies on mass surveillance. But we felt a responsibility as Israelis to use our position and our ability to gain sometimes and confidence to bring the insider testimony in to how the system looks like from the inside. Part of why we wanted to make this film is because, and I think that&#8217;s hearing testimonies. And from officers who themselves were operating these systems of killing, designed them. And can make the denial of the crimes harder.
