\nThe annual lecture delivered by the Director of Chatham House, Bronwen Maddox, could not have been more appropriate nor more timely in its assessment of the part played by western nations in fueling the war on Gaza and blind support of Israel.<\/p>\n

“”I think the charge of double standars over Gaza is well-founded in two respects…western countries allowed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to fester and Israel to abuse its power.””<\/p>\n

“”The second is Israel’s response in Gaza…Israel’s bombardment and constraint on humanitarian aid has lost it much of the world’s support and there is cause for that,”” Maddox.<\/p>\n

She continued that US and Europe should make clear to Israel that it is pursuing a military course that will not achieve its goal of eradicating Hamas and the toll on civilians is intolerable.<\/p>\n

* Chatham House is a prestigious International Relations Think Tank based in London, and its papers and opinions are well respected world wide. This would have resounded at the highest levels of authority.<\/p>\n
