One analysis cited by Moneycontrol estimated that India’s operational data centres could require roughly 37.5 billion litres of water annually, although water use varies substantially depending on cooling technology and location.

The student also challenged Parker over NVIDIA’s relationship with Israel, alleging that NVIDIA technology is being used by the Israeli military. Public records and research do document Israeli military purchases of NVIDIA products, although the broader claim about a specific $500 million deal was not independently verified in the sources I found.

NVIDIA, meanwhile, says it is deploying closed-loop liquid cooling and technologies designed to reduce or eliminate water use for cooling in some AI infrastructure.

AI IS BOOMING. BUT WHO PAYS THE ENVIRONMENTAL PRICE?

Source: @brut.india

#NVIDIA #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #ClimateWeekNYC #climatechange
English Script:
Student 1: My family in India are dying from droughts because of you. How many more people are going to die? You dare and say you care about sustainability. You have made it 13 million times, 50 million times of CO2.

Josh Parker: AI has the potential to drive net emissions reduction.

Student 2: There you sit there while people are suffering from the consequences of data centers and AI. These corporations and data centers are responsible for climate disasters.

India’s installed data center capacity has risen from 375 MW in 2020 to about 1,575 MW in 2026.

Most data centres in India rely on evaporative cooling, where water is used to remove heat generated by servers.

Student 2: Just last week and this year, your company NVIDIA’s gave a $500 million deal to Israel.

Student 3: Your airships has been used by Israeli authorities to commit genocide in Palestine. SHame on you

Josh Parker: We’re here at Climate Week because we care about climate and we’re focused on climate change.

Student 1: Josh Parker, Shame on you.
