\u201cTHE ICC DOES NOT YIELD TO EXTERNAL THREATS\u201d<\/p>\n

The US has sanctioned the president of the world\u2019s court for war crimes. Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye are now barred from entering the US and from using its financial system. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says they \u201cdirectly engaged in efforts by the ICC to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute officials\u201d whose governments haven\u2019t consented to the court\u2019s jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

The ICC called it a \u201cflagrant attack against the independence of an impartial judicial institution.\u201d The UN rights chief demanded the sanctions be lifted. Even Japan, the court\u2019s biggest funder and a close US ally, objected.<\/p>\n

And who cheered? Netanyahu, wanted by the same court over Gaza, called the ICC \u201ca kangaroo court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Think about that. Judges punished for doing their jobs. The accused clapping from the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Akane\u2019s answer: no. The court stays. The victims come first.<\/p>\n
