Mark Constantine co-founded Lush in 1995 and still runs it. On a BBC podcast late last year, he was asked whether his stance on Gaza would cost him customers. His answer: if you\u2019re against it, you shouldn\u2019t come in.<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t just say it. Three months earlier, Lush shut every UK store, its factory and its website for a full day, with \u201cStop Starving Gaza\u201d in the windows. It reportedly cost the company around \u00a3300,000. Staff were still paid, and Lush used the day to push the UK government to stop selling arms to Israel.<\/p>\n

It also relaunched its Watermelon Slice soap, its biggest fundraiser ever, with most proceeds funding medical care in Gaza, including prosthetics.<\/p>\n

The rest of the record, per @conscious.spend : a certified living wage for UK staff since 2017, no animal testing, \u00a3250,000 a year toward replacing it, and over half of 2025 sales packaging-free. North American workers have accused Lush of fighting their union efforts, so it\u2019s not perfect, but next to most companies its size, it\u2019s one of the better options.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile millions of us pay Microsoft, Google and Airbnb every month, three companies a 2025 UN expert report named as profiting from the genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n
