\nThe United States House of Representatives yesterday rejected a Republican-led bill to provide $17.6bn in assistance to #Israel as a wider bipartisan bill that would also help #Ukraine and ensure more money for border security looked to be in trouble as well.\u2060<\/p>\n

Critics argued that the bill was a Republican tactic to divert attention from their opposition to a larger bipartisan bill that included funding for Ukraine, border security, and immigration policy. \u2060<\/p>\n

The vote followed a POWERFUL SPEECH by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib<\/p>\n

“Here we go again, sending $17.6 billion in U.S. tax dollars with no conditions attached to Netanyahu’s extremist government to drop more bombs on innocent Palestinians. I’m tired of my colleagues coming to me, whispering, I don’t really like Netanyahu. Well, then why are we sending them billions of dollars with no conditions?”<\/p>\n

Prior to the vote, former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi was confronted by pro-Palestinian protesters calling her an “Israeli-apologist”.<\/p>\n

But many of my colleagues continue to tell me that they do not want to condition the aid. They give it to a genocidal maniac. My message to my colleagues is simple If you don’t support Netanyahu, if you are disgusted by the countless videos of lifeless children pulled out of the rubble, if you actually believe in upholding human rights and international law, vote NO on a blank check to Netanyahu’s genocide.<\/p>\n
