In the tumultuous early hours of October 7, Israeli forces engaged Hamas fighters with Apache helicopter gunships, targeting vehicles heading towards Gaza.<\/p>\n

Pilots, navigating through chaos, resorted to local WhatsApp groups to identify targets – a concerning revelation highlighting the weakness of the Israeli military intelligence resources to provide accurate information to their own troops to avoid harm to their own citizens.<\/p>\n

As more investigations are being undertaken by Israeli media and more Israeli military personnel continue speak up about the mayhem that ensued it is becoming apparent that of the 1000 or so Israeli’s killed on that day, a large number were executed by THEIR OWN MILITARY.<\/p>\n

\nAl Jazeera Reporter: In the chaotic early hours of October 7, Israeli forces scrambled to engage Hamas fighters. Apache helicopter gunships fired onto cars driving towards Gaza, aware that some of them were carrying captives.<\/p>\n

Israeli soldier: I was in the air during one of the sorties and they said there were abductees.<\/p>\n

Interviewer: Then what do you do? How do you shoot someone who is returning towards the border?<\/p>\n

Israeli soldier: Good question and it\u2019s a super-complex dilemma.<\/p>\n

Interviewer: The whole decision is now on you. There is no one to talk to?<\/p>\n

Israeli soldier: Yes, there is no one to talk to.<\/p>\n

Al Jazeera Reporter: Without guidance, some pilots said they joined local WhatsApp groups to help pick targets.<\/p>\n

Prof. Chuck Freilich: The idea that pilots have to get information from WhatsApp groups is truly remarkable. It’s a sign of the initiative that people are looking for any way that they can get the information. This is an outrage. What kind of a way is that to fight a modern war?<\/p>\n

Al Jazeera Reporter: At least 70 vehicles were hit by attack helicopters.<\/p>\n

Chris Cobb-Smith: To me, it’s inexcusable for a helicopter or any weapons system to be engaging any target if you don’t know what that target is. Now, my concern is with this footage, we cannot tell whether Hamas gunmen or civilians or possibly hostages. And I don’t believe the helicopter pilot or the machine gun operator would be able to tell either.<\/p>\n

Andreas Kreig: These big rounds have a certain area effect, and obviously come at a certain rate that if you shoot at a group of people, you’re most likely going to kill everyone. You are knowingly putting your own civilians at risk.<\/p>\n

Al Jazeera Reporter: The I-Unit compiled a detailed list of those killed on October seven. It found that 27 captives died somewhere between their homes and the Gaza fence. The circumstances of those deaths have not been explained. 12 more civilian deaths took place in Be\u2019eri Kibbutz after an attack by police and army forces on a house there containing captives. Israel’s Channel 12 spoke to survivors.<\/p>\n

Israeli survivor: They suddenly brought a tank and I ask one of the soldiers \u201cif you shoot shells. Won\u2019t they harm the hostages?\u201d he tells me, \u201cNo, we\u2019re only doing it on the sides to take down walls.\u201d They weren\u2019t killed because they were executed, they were killed by the shooting. There was crazy shooting there at the house. Insane. A tank came and shot shells at it, unbelievable. If all the hostages dies, it was only from the shelling.<\/p>\n

Al Jazeera Reporter: The investigative unit, asked the Israeli army for comment on its actions on October 7. They did not reply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
