Hollywood Director, Francis Ford Coppola, who is known for directing movies such as The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now, speaking at the 2015 Marrakech International Film Festivaspoke, shared his views about the Qur\u02be\u0101n and Isl\u0101m explaining that: \u201cEveryone knows that at the root of that religion, the two most important words are that God is Gracious and God is Merciful.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe problems of the world is heartbreaking, it is heart breaking. But if you know the Qur\u02be\u0101n, the first words of the Qur\u02be\u0101n, the very first I believe are something like: \u2018In the name of God, the Gracious and the Merciful. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Book of Judgement\u2019.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re saying graciousness and mercy is what\u2019s at the\u2026 they repeated it twice on the first page\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s You we worship, and You we ask, Lead us to the straight path, the path of those You have blessed. Not those against whom there is anger or are misguided\u2019.
\nSo anyone who knows this beautiful religion, that was the height of civilisation in the 13th century, the Arab civilisation that we had that gave us mathematics and science.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows that at the root of that religion, the two most important words are that God is Gracious and God is Merciful. And we trust to that God to deliver us from this misunderstanding, that is doing these terrible things, that are hurting people.
\nGod does not want people to be hurt, God is Gracious, God is Merciful\u2026
\n\u2026 and that\u2019s what I have to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
