Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz has threatened to resign unless Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sets out a post-war plan for the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

Gantz set an 8 June deadline for a plan to achieve six \u201c\u201dstrategic goals\u201d\u201d, including the end of Hamas rule in Gaza and the establishment of a multinational civilian administration for the territory.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201dIf you put the national over personal, you will find in us partners in the struggle,\u201d\u201d he said. \u201c\u201dBut if you choose the path of fanatics and lead the entire nation to the abyss, we will be forced to quit the government.\u201d\u201d<\/p>\n

Netanyahu dismissed the comments as \u201c\u201dwashed-up words\u201d\u201d that would mean \u201c\u201ddefeat for Israel\u201d\u201d.<\/p>\n

Naama Weinberg: The expansion of the operation in Rafah, and Netanyahu’s refusal to promote a plan for the day after the war are a testament to the depravity. Netanyahu’s government will no longer be able to claim that the goals of this war, bringing back the hostages and eliminating Hamas, go hand in hand. At this point, it is clear these two goals conflict with each other. Expanding the operation in Rafah means abandoning living hostages.<\/p>\n
