Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that his country stands in solidarity with Lebanon in light of growing tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsrael is now setting its sights on Lebanon and we see that Western powers behind the scenes are patting Israel on the back and even supporting them,\u201d he told lawmakers of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).<\/p>\n

Erdogan said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s war plans would \u201clead to a great disaster\u201d and called on regional countries to support Beirut.<\/p>\n

\nRecep Tayyip Erdogan: I have to raise this warning here: Israel, which has ravaged Gaza, now seems to have set its sights on Lebanon. Although the Western powers speak differently in front of the cameras, behind the scenes we see them patting Israel on the back and even providing support. It is extremely grave and pathetic that states that talk about freedom, human rights and justice, are under the captivity of a mental case like Netanyahu. Netanyahu\u2019s plans to spread the war to the region with the consent of the west will lead to a great disaster. The Islamic world and the brotherly countries in the Middle East should react against these bloody plans before the west. However, we observe with regret that the Islamic world is acting as if it has been buried. Turkey stands by the Lebanese people and state. I invite other countries in the region to stand in solidarity with Lebanon.<\/p>\n
