\nGideon Levy is a well-known Israeli journalist and author who writes opinion pieces and a weekly column for the newspaper Haaretz. He has been a long critic of Israel\u2019s occupation of Palestinian territory and a strong advocate for humanizing the Palestinians.<\/p>\n

He has received numerous awards for his articles on human rights issues relating to the treatment of the Palestinians.<\/p>\n

During his talk titled \u201cThe Israeli Lobby: Is it Good for the US, Is it Good for Israel?\u201d on April 10, 2015, he emphasized the three main factors that enable Israelis to justify and accept their dominance over the Palestinians.<\/p>\n

This is a short excerpt that provides us with an insight into the beliefs thay Israelis are brainwashed into believing to desensitize them towards the Palestinians and condition them to feel justified with their persecution.<\/p>\n

\nGedeon Levy: I’ll just give the three principles which enable us Israelis to live so easily with this brutal reality:
\nA) Most of the Israelis, if not all of them, deeply believe that we are the chosen people, and if we are the chosen people, we have the right to do whatever we want.
\nB) There were more brutal occupations in history. There were even longer occupations in history, even though the Israeli occupation gets to quite a nice record. But there was never in history an occupation in which the occupier, presented himself as the victim. Not only the victim, the only victim around. This also enables any Israeli to live in peace because we are the victims.
\nBut the third set of values is the most dangerous one. And this is the systematic dehumanization of the Palestinians, which enables Israelis to live in peace with everything. Because if they are not human beings like us, then that is not really a question of human rights. And if you scratch under the skin of almost every Israeli, you’ll find it there.
