As a journalist myself, I was trained to verify and cross check claims and statements before publishing or quoting anyone. Or at least to question them on the source of their claims. What we are witnessing from many of the alleged “respected” mainstream media organisations and their anchors and reporters today, is they buying into the narrative of one side without proper interrogation of the facts being claimed. I am seeing and hearing it every day and it infuriates me and makes me feel despondent about the state of journalism and media in our world today.
No wonder more and more people are abandoning the major networks and relying on social media influencers for their information. These influencers are not controlled by big business and media moguls whose objective is profit and power.
*Media is a kingmaker*. It can decide if you win or lose, become president or not. And more dangerously it controls how we feel, think and what we believe about a topic or event or person.
We are all witnessing this right now with the calamity happening in Gaza with the same rhetoric regurgitated daily, hourly, every minute on our screens trying to force some of us to believe that what Israel is doing is justified and that killing 11,000 innocent civilians is “unfortunately” collateral damage.

To sit here and tell us what Israel is saying, despite what the facts demonstrate. The facts are clear. There is no clear target. What Israel has said is that they are willing to destroy the entirety of the population in the Gaza Strip.
