I’ve been really scared to share this because of the backlash I have already gotten from friends and family. But the situation is worsening, and the similarities are far too close for me to keep silent. My husband and I are witnesses to the current genocide that has taken place in Palestine. In 2007, we went to Israel, during that time we also went into Palestine, and we saw nothing less than apartheid and the start of what was similar to the Holocaust.
As we were approaching West Bank Palestine, we came across the separation wall, which was just like the separation walls that we had seen at Yad Vashem which is the biggest Holocaust Museum in all of Israel. Not only is there a giant separation wall in Israel today separating two different races, but there are signs using words like Beware, caution, do not enter.
All over the world, people are starting to stand up for Palestine just the same way they stood up for South Africans during the apartheid era. In October alone, more than 10,000 Palestinians have died because of the Israel bombings. More than 20,000 people have been injured. And the worst part about all of this is that the majority are children.
This is an ethnic cleansing that is happening right now today, because none of us are standing up for those who are being discriminated against. It is up to you and me to make this known to the world and to make sure that this stop.
