December 8, 2023Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu released a provocative statement a few hours ago, threatening Lebanon and the Lebanese citizens with destruction and devastation similar to what is being witnessed in Gaza.
“We will turn Beirut, southern Lebanon into Gaza and Khan Younis if Iran-backed group’s attacks on Israel continue.”
Israel has been increasing the rhetoric between the two groups, hoping Hezbollah will lose its patience and launch heavy attack against Israel. Up to now the exchanges between the two have been largely tit-for-tat although Israeli air strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 3 journalists and 10 other civilians as well as more than 70 Hezbollah fighters.
Israel’s attacks have been targeted at civilians and media personnel which many feel is an attempt by Israel to draw Hezbollah into the conflict and provide the excuse for all out war against Lebanon.
Hezbollah appears to be well aware of Israel’s tactics.
