Ione Bellara: And the second thing that seems fundamental to me is related to the propaganda apparatus deployed by the State of Israel, which in my opinion is the crux of the matter and unfolds in three strategies. These strategies are the reasons behind the total dehumanization of the palestinian people and an association with terrorism enabling actions against this population that would not be allowed under normal circumstances anywhere else in the world. The first element, in my view, is the silence which the state of israel has tried to implement. What this has accomplished is that there is no discussion possible about this conflict. on one hand there is a total dehumanization. palestinian victims die without names, without families, without a story. Meanwhile, Israeli hostages, the people killed – as it should be- have names, stories, families and are known.
However, the names, faces and stories of all victims need to be recognized. This dehumanization is what allows the implementation of an extermination policy, as we are witnessing. And when someone speaks up, criminalization occurs, which is the third element that, in my opinion, is crucial to point out.
