ISRAELI APARTHEID SLAVERY
December 26, 2023Let me tell you about the cost of Israeli apartheid. Like real numbers, not emotional arguments, not even something from history that we might disagree about. Palestine as a whole or what’s left of it in the West Bank and Gaza spent $18 billion in 2020, and $0.72 of every dollar spent by a Palestinian citizen was a cost forced on them because they live under apartheid rule, things like $4.2 billion a year in higher water prices because they’re not allowed to dig their own wells and manage their own water supply, or $1 billion a year in higher electricity prices or $4 billion a year because they’re not allowed to mine the Dead Sea to have tourism, proper road networks or international trade. These are not my numbers, the source in the caption. But imagine someone asked you to pay 72% income tax and forced you to live in a stateless condition under the scrutiny of constant checkpoints without proper access to water or electricity or any viable economic opportunity. What would you do? How would you feel? And how long do you think it could go on? This is modern day slavery brought to you by an apartheid system that needs to end.
