FORMER TURKISH PRIME MINISTER CALLS TO CUT TRADE TIES WITH ISRAEL
February 1, 2024“Former Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davetoglu, is raising his voice, calling on President Erdogan to take a decisive step and END ALL TRADE with ISRAEL.
Davetoglu expressed his disappointment, citing his admiration for South Africa’s actions and questioning why Turkey hadn’t taken similar measures earlier.
Davetoglu, who played a key role in past Gaza wars, emphasizes the need for Turkey to reconsider its stance. In a bold move, he rejected the unforeseen shift in Turkish foreign policy and urged an immediate end to trade with Israel.
The question of where Turkey really stands on Israel is becoming quite confusing. We have seen Erdogan make strong statements condemning Israel’s atrocities and yet take NO REAL ACTION.
Like many Arab nations and their leaders we are seeing a lot of LIPS MOVING but NO FEET WALKING!
I applaud Davetoglu and support his call for real action.
The only nations who have taken REAL ACTION are SOUTH AFRICA and YEMEN.

Ahmet Davetoglu: I called President Erdogan to apply for ICJ, International Court of Justice. For me, it is painful. I appreciate and I admire what South Africa did, but I feel shame why Turkey didn’t do the same action? For me, I feel really pain and shame. Why Turkey didn’t apply first or didn’t support South Africa as one of the intervening countries. Therefore, this is a shift unforeseen in turkish foreign policy, which I reject. In the past, in all the wars in Gaza, I was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Adviser of Prime Minister. Turkey was mediator to bring ceasefires. Now, Turkey doesn’t have such support because of several reasons, but at least we were expecting from my government. They are my old friends. I am not just criticizing them, but I am again calling, even begging them to stop trade with Israel immediately, immediately. That trade cannot be justified at all.
