PRESIDENT OF COLOMBIA WARNS What’s HAPPENING to GAZA CAN HAPPEN to ANY OF YOU
March 4, 2024The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, gave a poignant speech when he addressed regional leaders at the CELAC Annual Meeting (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) two days ago in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
With the summit focusing on the importance of peace and the planet, President Petro raised the issue of Palestine and the rights of the Palestinians, warning all leaders that: “What happens to Palestine can happen to any of you if you dare to make changes without their permission,”” referring to the might of western imperialist nations and specifically the USA.
This is an important development as we are seeing the nations from the global south begin to overcome their previous lack of courage and raise their heads and voices on issues they are ethically opposed to, after witnessing the bravery of South Africa, when it took the “”untouchable”” state of Israel to the International Court of Justice accusing it of genocide against the Palestinians, and winning as the ICJ judges’ interim decision agreed their was a “”plausibble case for genocide”” against Israel.
We need more world leaders to stand up for humane values and guide humanity back towards a path that defends all our rights and justice.

Gustavo Petro: It is showing us a genocide in front of our eyes. It is not the old dynamic of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is being shown today. But also, and this is why Germany supports genocide, and France and the EU and the UK, and above all, the USA, in its democratic version, supports dropping bombs on people because they are making a demonstration in front of the whole of humanity. What happens to Palestine can happen to any of you if you dare to make changes without their permission. That is the first danger about Latin America and the Caribbean that we have to recognize and act upon.
