GUYAN HUMILIATES U.S. FOR SHAM SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION
March 24, 2024Guyana’s Ambassador to the UN, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, stuck it to the Americans after the SHAM U.S. Security Council Resolution they drafted which DID NOT CALL for an IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.
“In a resolution of 41 paragraphs — 2,036 words — the occupying power [Israel] is mentioned once.”
Guyana was the only member of the UN Security Council to abstain from a vote on a failed U.S. resolution for a ceasefire. The resolution was vetoed by China and Russia, with Algeria also voting against.
Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett, called out the watered-down language of the U.S. proposal, which she said fails to condemn or properly address Israel’s responsibility for the mass killings and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
The resolution also failed to demand an immediate ceasefire, only stating a ceasefire was “imperative.”
The U.S. has vetoed three other UN ceasefire resolutions since Oct. 7, while simultaneously providing Israel with billions of dollars in military aid and confirmed weapons sales totaling over $570 million. Israeli forces have killed over 32,000 Palestinians.
