April 11, 2024It doesn’t matter whether you are on their side or oppose them, when someone’s children, grandchildren die or are murdered, you should show compassion. These were souls, people with families hopes and dreams.
If we are truly humane we should mourn the loss of every life.
Today, for Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’s political leader, the shock and pain were evident after learning three of his sons and three grandchildren were executed by an Israeli airstrike on their vehicle near the Al-Shati refugee camp in central Gaza, as they were undertaking the ritual visits to family and relatives that take place at the end of Ramadan to celebrate Eid.
The sorrow and sadness were only visible for a moment in his eyes, his lowered face, his slouched shoulders and the sense of loss that overtook his entire demeanour.
And this is how he copes. Praying and believing so deeply in his faith: “I thank Allah for this honor that He bestowed upon us through the martyrdom of my three sons and grandchildren.”
