Yale STUDENTS END HUNGER STRIKE BUT CONTINUE DISSENT FOR PALESTINE
April 22, 2024Last night, Yale University’s brave Hunger Strikers for Palestine ended their hunger strike after eight days.
The coalition of hunger strikers, consisting of at least 12 graduate students and two undergraduates, had demanded of President Peter Salovey that the University publicly commit to divestment from weapons manufacturers involved in Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, however the University rejected their request to divest.
In a final statement the strikers wrote: “Yale clearly values the investments to be gained from military weapons manufacturing over Palestinian lives and students’ wellbeing.”
Palestine’s Ambassador to Britain, Husam Zomlot, commented on social media on the actions of Yale and other students stating: « »The movement for justice and accountability is growing and spreading across university campuses in the US and beyond, including Columbia and
@Harvard last week. If change doesn’t come from the top, it is coming from the people and it is making a difference. Thank you to every student that has taken a stand to defend justice, freedom and equality for all. This is humanity ✊🏽 @hzomlot
Due to the BLACKOUT on mainstream media about the actions being taken across America and the world, many people do not know that these incredibly brave and moral actions are being waged in support of Palestine. For this reason it is imperative that we, the masses on social media, share, like, follow, engage to make sure these stories are seen ALL OVER THE WORLD.
